When does street sweeping start in Denver?

DENVER (KDVR) — And just like that, it’s that time of the year again: Street sweeping in Denver.

Next Tuesday, April 1, residential street sweeping season will begin in the Mile High City and last through November.

The Denver Department of Transportation and Infrastructure said annual street sweeping is critical for keeping the streets, air and water clean. From April through November, street sweepers will clear dirt and debris from the air and water and prevent it from clogging storm sewer inlets.

Denver residents are asked to move their cars during the posted and designated time so that sweepers can get to the curbline.

Residents should check the red and white signs posted along their block for parking restrictions. Those who don’t remove their car before the sweeping begins will be given a $50 citation.

DOTI said residents can also look up their street sweeping schedule and sign up for email and text reminders on the city’s new online hub. Once an address has been selected, DOTI will provide the date for street sweeping on both the right and left sides of the street.

In 2023, DOTI said maintenance workers swept 108,035 lane miles and collected 50,537 cubic yards of debris.

So, don’t forget to double check the signage when you park on Denver streets; it could save you $50.
