Charlie Sheen.
Actor Carlos Irwin Estévez is better known by his professional stage name, Charlie Sheen. Born on September 3, 1965, in New York City, he is the son of actor Martin Sheen (whose birth name is Ramón Antonio Gerardo Estévez). Like his father, Charlie chose to adopt a stage name that would be more marketable in Hollywood. “Sheen” was a name his father had adopted early in his own acting career, inspired by televangelist Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen.
Charlie Sheen first gained recognition in the 1980s for roles in critically acclaimed films such as “Platoon” (1986) and “Wall Street” (1987), the latter of which he starred in alongside his father. Known for his good looks, charisma, and natural acting talent, Sheen quickly became one of the most sought-after young actors in Hollywood.
In the 2000s, Sheen transitioned successfully to television, becoming a household name for his role as Charlie Harper on the hit CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men” (2003–2011). The role earned him multiple award nominations and made him one of the highest-paid actors on television at the time.
However, Sheen’s career has also been marked by controversy. His personal life – including substance abuse, legal troubles, and public outbursts – often made headlines. In 2011, he was famously fired from “Two and a Half Men” due to his erratic behavior. Despite these setbacks, Sheen remains a significant figure in American entertainment, both for his work and his turbulent public persona.
