*A new chapter of the “Scary Movie” franchise is set to hit theaters, with Regina Hall and Anna Faris reprising their iconic roles as Brenda and Cindy.

The Wayans brothers, Keenen, Shawn, and Marlon, are reuniting to write and produce, marking their first collaboration on the series in nearly two decades. Fans of the early-2000s parody films are buzzing with excitement for this nostalgic comeback.

“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again),” Hall and Faris said in a joint statement.

The original “Scary Movie,” released in 2000, grossed $278 million on a $19 million budget, spoofing horror classics like “Scream” and “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” Its irreverent humor made it a cultural staple, spawning four sequels.

Directed by Michael Tiddes, the reboot begins filming in October 2025, aiming for a June 12, 2026, release. The Wayans’ signature satire will target modern horror hits, blending fresh faces with returning stars to capture both longtime fans and new audiences. The franchise, which has earned nearly $900 million globally, thrives on its mix of slapstick and sharp commentary.

The return of Hall and Faris promises to recapture the electric chemistry that defined the original films. Their roles as Brenda and Cindy became fan favorites, with memorable scenes parodying everything from “The Blair Witch Project” to “The Matrix.”

This reboot aims to revive that magic while introducing the franchise to a new generation.
